America all started in Virginia.

That's right.
in Virginia.
Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. The three are part of the historic triangle.
On our way to Jamestown, we stopped by the Shirley Plantation.
It was one of the only plantations left. And it is was one of the biggest.
It's hard to believe that so many people were treated so badly, and people were not free!

but then we had to take a quick break for some...

OREOS!

I have started to take quite a liking for them.

as you can tell haha :)

and i think Brigham does too... he's solemnly enjoying them though.

:)

Okay, well back on the subject.
Inside the Powhatan Indians hut. They were very small and actually didn't stay in them that long, just for sleep. They mostly stored their goods there. A cool fact was that they always had a fire burning, even in the hot, humid summer. The heat actually made it not humid. So it was better to be just hot then to be hot and humid. They must of gotten pretty used to the heat, because we were dying. It was a hot day!
There were about 14,000-21,000 Indians in Virginia when the English settled Jamestown in 1607.
Our cool tour guide. he told us all about the English.

This is one of the bigger ships the English came to Virginia in for about 4 months.
About 104 colonists were in this boat. And 71 men were living on one small floor. squashed.
After about 4 1/2 months, only about 34 survived.
This lady was so funny. I learned a lot from her.
This was inside of the settlers town. After a while, the men finally thought to bring in some women. This is what they would carry the water buckets with. oh boy was it heavy.
haha ya Warriors.
but the Powhatans and the English were in a war. But when Pocahontas and John Rolfe got married, the war all ended. But then started up again a few years later.

Yeah for Patriots again!!!!! haha
They had this cool place where the kids could dress up.
And we even got to see a real canon fire! It was so loud, people lost their hearing in the war.
After a long day of history learning, we took a dip in the pool.
What the kids love the most. All they want to do is eat, swim, and play baseball.
haha what fun!!
